Abby Ortego MA, PLPC

Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor

ao-new

Abby is a graduate of Lindenwood University with a Master of Arts in Counseling. With a strong desire to come alongside adults, teens, and any parents who struggle with interpersonal relationships, Abby takes a non-judgmental approach and views relational issues through the lens of attachment and a breakdown in connection, safety, and/or trust. She believes every client has the ability to build and maintain healthy, lasting relationships when they feel safe and equipped to do so. She especially believes parents and their children have the capacity to have strong relationships with each other when there are mutual trust, boundaries, and love shared.

Abby also has experience working with clients experiencing grief, loss of a loved one whether by death or otherwise, parenting struggles, loneliness or isolation, feeling left out or left behind by peers, shame, fear, doubt, anxiety, and general relationship questioning. Her goal as a therapist is to create a shame-free environment where clients can feel seen, heard, and respected in order to process whatever struggle they are experiencing.

Abby has lived in or around Saint Charles County her entire life and is especially proud of region-specific food and drink such as toasted ravioli, gooey butter cake, and Picasso’s Coffee. When she isn’t in the counseling room, she is exploring new coffee shops or small businesses with her husband, daughter, and Australian Shepherd. She also enjoys crafts, board games, and any other activities done as a family.
